You need to adjust your microphone plans based on the type of frequency that you plan on using. A vocal microphone can work well at 80 Hz to 15 kHz, for instance. Meanwhile, a bass microphone will work better if you go as low as 30 Hz. Simply put, the lower notes will require the lowest frequencies. 

Check the SPL 

The SPL, or sound pressure level, is a measurement in decibels on the highest possible volume that the microphone can handle. It is measured in terms of the overall sensitivity that comes with the microphone. The microphone will have to hold a good SPL to ensure that it can take in all the necessary sounds that you are trying to create. Many microphones can work with SPLs of 100 dB but a high-power SPL that works with drums in mind will handle 130 dB at a time.
